Ah bloggie..

PAP won again.. Well, that's kind of expected... Finally the haze is over, it's such a disgrace when you look at the way they fight, the Gomez issue, all the sue-ing which is becoming to a joke to all of us.

Blogging has seriously becoming such a popular thing. For all young Singaporeans, majority of us actually gather information online rather then in the local news/media. And I'm very disappointing with the new ruling about the banning the podcast/blogging/online media being use as a election tool.

People want to move forward. To me.. online media is just another media of collecting information, which majority young Singaporean are depending on. Please.. can't all the Ministers see? This is the way young Singaporean are heading towards to. If the opposition can bring the war online.. Why can't you do the same? Online open up a wider world. We get more views, we can save all the old records and dig it out to compare. You dun expect us to depend on the local news and media which means we need to go library to dig all the old and outdated records. Even Channelnewsasia dun keep and let us read the old records for free.

Try typing the word "Lee Kuan Yew" and search in google and search the same thing in the local media "channelnewsasia, straitstimes etc" We can't depend on local media all the times. And the government have to trust us to get the right information.

Yes, I'm just saying my view as a ignorant young singaporean.. But from my viewpoint, what the young Singaporean needs now beside managing the country well like what PAP is doing now, is a source to voice up and trust. We are like babies infront of the government. They are just overprotective sometimes. No!! You are not allow to blog freely!! No!! You are not allow to discuss anything bad about local politics online!! No!! You are too ignorant!!

We can't talk about it in the country, we can't discuss it online. I felt mute. What's wrong? If my view is wrong, then correct me! If I'm saying anything wrong, please tell me!! If we can't discuss local politics freely online, how are we suppose to get more views?

Just like the blogger news, they wrote racist comments. Yes! I read it, I know it, I can comment my disagreement on it. The comment option in the blogger is not there for nothing. They did something wrong, we all know.. And majority of the comment simply reflect our views also. Do you need to sue that blogger for that? When everyone who reads it obviously knows who's right and who's wrong?

Online media is hard to control? Seriously, I'm not stupid. I know at least to read a second opinion. The opposition can post anything online too, and I will read for reviews from other parties too.

What the government is lacking is to face it and tackle the problem itselves instead of banning/sueing it.

And yes.. all my source of election are still online.. read!! and see the difference between a local media report and overseas report on Singapore election!! You can limit us to talk about our own polictics online.. now see what others is saying about us!!

"The PAP has repeatedly threatened to cut public housing funds to constituencies that vote for opposition candidates. In populist fashion, this year the party handed out cash payments to low- and middle-income voters just weeks before announcing the May 6 elections."

"Significantly, the new ban on new media highlights a glaring contradiction in the PAP's policy rhetoric and its on-the-ground actions. Recent policy initiatives have aimed, at least conceptually, to promote more creativity in Singapore's still severely repressed society.

However, that drive has not yet translated into more political and social freedoms. The PAP-led government is now in the process of forcing bloggers to register their online identities, stripping online writers of their anonymity and exposing them to possible defamation prosecution for writing considered objectionable by the government. Last year, two bloggers were charged under the Sedition Act related to their online postings."

Yes, the above is not my words, please sue them if you find it offended.

And note this: More than 67% of Singapore's 4.4 million population is connected to the Internet, the third-highest percentage in Asia behind only Japan and Hong Kong, according to statistics provided by Internetworldstats.com.

BBC
"However one opposition party was hit with a lawsuit alleging defamation against the Singapore prime minister.

Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his father, former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew, are suing the Singapore Democratic Party leader Chee Soon Juan and other party members over articles they wrote criticising the government's handling of a scandal at the National Kidney Foundation."

That's not something i would want to read in the election news report of a well known international news!!

The Star (Malaysia)

"In denying Lee his usual walkover win, the Worker?? Party said that they were fighting Lee so that he would not be a ??alkover PM??

Lee, who was not without a sense of humour, replied that PAP was grateful for the Worker?? Party doing ??ational service??

When asked whether he thought the opposition would lose its deposit in Ang Mo Kio, Lee said with a laugh: ??e??l try our best to make sure it??l cost them some money.??"

This article looks like some kidish fight to me. Too much focus on the Gomez issue again.

Manila Bulletin Online (PH)

"International human rights groups have long criticized the city-state for its spate of defamation suits against political opponents and curbs on freedom of expression.

While the current incident would be regarded as trivial in Western democracies, PAP leaders have indicated that it has no bearing in the city-state of 4.2 million people."

Beside the usual Gomez issue.. =.=

CONCLUSION
ENOUGH OF ALL THIS? Talking about embrassment??

It's not the post-1965ers thingy or rebellous mindset of Young Singaporean that's going against PAP. It's the PAP or maybe simply the "govenment?" that aren't catching up and understanding what the Young Singaporean is going for!!

Singapore is just like a typical Chinese family, I would say, if PAP is a overprotective parent and the Young Singaporean is a teenage... WE DO HAVE A BIG GENERATION GAP!!

As what expert would advise to the parents, it's time to learn to let go and listen to them!! They failed to be a good parents. Imposing rules and regulation to the child is not the ultimate solution.

Try telling a children, "YOU ARE FORBIDDED TO GO ONLINE TO PLAY GAMES/BLOG/CHAT!!!" See how they react? If you are a parent, how about trying it on ur child?

And yes.. this blog is suppose to be private and shared among closest friends only. If you are here.. Please kindly leave!
