Reading "Your Memory - A User's Guide" Fourth edition. Surprisingly, it was first launch during 1982. Hahaha.. So here's some of my personal notes in layman terms.
Okies. Shall just jot down some notes.
Basically here the formation of memory:
Environmental input -> [Sensory Registers] visual (Sight) | auditory (Sound) | haptic (Touch) -> [Short Term Store] Temporary Working Memory -> [Long Term Store] Permanent Memory Store -> [Short Term Store] Control Processes | Decisions | Retrieval Stragies -> Response Output
Let's do a simple one..
When remembering things..
Example:
Hello World.
Close ur eyes and recall it.
Do you remember it visually/auditory? Or both?
Of course we shall exclude haptic in this case, as it's impossible.
Example:
There's a thunder storm today, and I'm stuck in my house for the whole day. Staring at the boring computer screen.
Do you visually the scene? Of thunder storm and the writer?
Now try recalling. Do you recall it word by word or do you remember the scene?
